How to Set Up Sales Tax for Appointments

Learn how to configure primary and secondary sales tax settings and apply them to appointments in your account.

Important

  • A sales tax associated with an appointment cannot be deleted.

  • Changes to tax settings will apply to new appointments going forward.


Creating Sales Tax

  • From your ZenMaid Dashboard, go to Settings and select Taxes under the Client Billing section.

  • To set your Primary Tax, click Add another primary tax rate.

  • To set your Secondary Tax, click Add another secondary tax rate on the same page.


Applying Sales Tax to an Appointment

  • Go to the appointment where you want to apply sales tax.

  • Locate the Billing section in the appointment sidebar.

  • Select the desired tax from the Primary Tax or Secondary Tax dropdown.


Additional Information & Points to Note About Tax

  • You can mark a sales tax as a default so it is automatically applied to every new appointment.

  • You can choose to hide the sales tax from the Billing section of the appointment sidebar.

  • The Sales Tax report does not show a breakdown by individual tax rate. Use the Tax Rate report to see the total tax collected for a given time frame.

  • For tax-exempt customers or those requiring a different rate, create a secondary tax rate set to 0% and select it under the Financials section when creating their appointment.
