Summary
This article explains how to set up and manage Revenue Share (Percentage Pay) for cleaners in ZenMaid, including how payroll calculates commission amounts and how to handle multiple cleaners assigned to the same job.
Important
Discounts on cleanings do not affect the commission a cleaner receives.
Clocked times do not automatically affect pay for revenue share, flat rate, or variable rate setups. The system calculates pay based on the total time spent using an hourly wage, not the revenue share wage.
If cleaners are set to be paid on commission, you cannot switch them to an hourly rate for a single job on payroll. You can, however, manually adjust their percentage.
To run Payroll, please see here:
Setting Up Revenue Share
When adding a cleaner, set their pay type to Revenue Share under their profile settings.
The payroll will automatically calculate the commission amount based on the appointment sale.
If more than one cleaner is assigned to a job, the system can split the amount between them.
Running Payroll with Revenue Share
Go to Payroll and open the relevant pay period.
Review the calculated amounts for each cleaner assigned to the appointment.
Side Note
For example, a three-hour job charged at $300 with three cleaners each at 25% revenue share would show $75 per cleaner. If one cleaner was only present for one hour, adjust that cleaner to $25 and leave the others at $75.
Splitting or Assigning Full Commission to Multiple Cleaners
If two or more cleaners share a revenue share rate (for example, 50% each), use the pink Change payroll % split button to toggle between splitting the percentage among all cleaners or assigning the full percentage to each one individually.
Side Note
If three cleaners each have a 50% rate and worked the same time, the system can either give each cleaner 50% or split the 50% three ways, depending on your selection.
Handling Different Revenue Share Percentages
If cleaners have different revenue share percentages (for example, one at 50% and another at 45%), the system will calculate each amount separately based on the appointment total.
No manual adjustment is needed when percentages differ and the time on the job is the same.
Side Note
Paying commission based on exact individual arrival and departure times across multiple cleaners is possible, but requires fully manual calculation. This approach is rarely used in practice due to the time involved.
