Summary
This article covers how to run the Revenue and Expenses report, set a date range, and read the revenue, outstanding, and net after payroll figures it returns.
Accessing the Revenue and Expenses Report
From your ZenMaid dashboard, click on Reports, then All Reports.
On the next page, in the Money group, click Revenue and expenses to run the report.
You may toggle the From and To fields to change your report's start and end date. This is useful if you want to see daily, weekly, and monthly reports, and so on.
Afterward, click "Run Report".
Revenue and Expense Report Overview
The Revenue and Expense Report page shows the revenue for the date range you entered and the net amount after payroll deductions.
It has the number of paid/unpaid appointments and approved payroll.
The report also contains a chart of the income for that period. It plots a single revenue line, matching the green Revenue figure at the top, broken down by day for ranges under a year and by month for longer ranges.
What Is Included In The Revenue and Expense Report
The green Revenue figure is the appointment prices for the period, with discounts and coupons applied and overcharges added. It excludes tax and tips, since neither counts as business revenue.
The grey figure directly below it repeats the same period with tax and/or tips included.
The dark red italic figure below those two is the outstanding amount, meaning the portion of that period's revenue that hasn't been collected yet. If it matches the Revenue figure exactly, none of that period's revenue has been collected.
Additional Information
Reports are generated instantly each time you run them. The Dashboard figures are updated once a day, so they can lag behind the report by up to a day.
The green Revenue figure is based on the scheduled appointment price (both paid and unpaid), rather than the amount charged to a card. The grey "with tax and/or tips" figure is different: when an appointment has real charges on it, that figure uses the charged amounts instead of the scheduled price.
If appointment data doesn't appear in the revenue reports, verify that the "Include in reports" box is checked in the Appointment Status page and the specific status setting.
An appointment's payment status doesn't automatically place it in a revenue report. The report reflects the appointment based on when the service occurred.
Appointment statuses excluded from revenue will still appear in the List View.
Bookmarking the Revenue and Expense report page will only save the URL, not the specific data pulled. The URL reuses the report page, so different months' data (e.g., April vs. March) cannot be bookmarked.
To compare two date ranges, open two Chrome tabs with ZenMaid, run different months in each, and consider taking screenshots for easy comparison.
The Metric View serves as a proactive tool by providing projected revenue based on scheduled appointments. This projection includes tips but excludes tax, so it won't match the "with tax and/or tips" figure in the Revenue and Expenses report.
