💡Psst – We never do anything at ZenMaid without consulting our industry experts. The following tips are from a conversation we had with the founder of Task Away VA , Maria Dorian, about making the most of cleaning events.
Are Cleaning Events Really Worth It?
Well — that depends on your goals. The key is to match up the conference content with the areas where you want to grow. And before you go, make sure your team is set up to run smoothly without you. If you’re constantly putting out fires back home, it’ll be hard to focus on the event.
(A little birdie told us automating all your tasks with ZenMaid keeps things running smoothly while you’re away! 😉Give ZenMaid a try?)
How to Maximize Your Experience at Cleaning Industry Events
Having a plan before you show up always helps make the most out of your investment. Here are some practical ways to get the most out of each experience.
Planning Your Visit
Choosing which events to attend comes down to a few key factors: your cleaning business needs, your budget, and the value you expect to get from the event.
Maria’s advice is to focus on topics of interest and speakers you’re excited about. If the sessions don’t seem relevant to your current business challenges, you may want to skip that one in favor of a more targeted event.
On the other hand, if an event covers areas you need help with — like hiring, pricing, or customer retention — it’s probably worth the investment.
Making the Most Out of Networking
Networking can be intimidating, especially if you’re more of an introvert. But connecting with other maid service owners is one of the biggest benefits of attending these events. Maria’s tip? Spend your free time socializing with people you already know, but use the event itself to meet new people.
She also suggests arriving with one specific problem you want to solve. For example, if you’re struggling to get recurring clients, ask around and see what’s working for others. It’s a great way to gather actionable advice from those in the trenches with you.
