Once upon a time, there was a mindmap
Crystal Hamm sat down one day a few years ago and created a map with visions for her future.
She thought about things she enjoyed in life and about herself: she liked to clean, she loved organizing, and she felt good when she did in-home activities like laundry.
After studying what she had created with this map of her mind, Crystal discovered that she wanted to start her own Maid Service.
Crystal followed her mind mapโs lead: startedย her own home cleaning companyย and is now the founder ofย Million Dollar Maid.
The first steps into the Maid Service ownership world
Crystal jumped into her dream head first.
After completing the mindmap, she thought of the idea to form her home cleaning company, immediately purchased a URL, and created a โcoming soonโ page on Facebook.
Then Crystal had someone build her a website – because having a functional website is a must.
Her next move was to hire someone who had actual experience in the professional home cleaning field.
Crystal actually walked around in a store while her new cleaner told herย what supplies to buyย to get the Maid Service up and running properly.
After that, Crystal started up with marketing, using any free options available she could use to get the word out there about her amazing new cleaning company.
That moment when you get your first cleaning client
After just a few weeks of very focused work, Crystal got her first client.
She was so excited for business, she completely undercharged a general clean of a 3500 square-foot home at $100 and spent hours completing the cleaning service.
This was a lesson for Crystal becauseย pricing your services appropriatelyย is crucial to your Maid Service growth.
Crystal learned quickly, though, her first monthโs revenue was $485, but she increased it to $3500 by the second month and kept moving forward.
The first years as the owner of a Maid Service
Most of her first official year, Crystal spent time hiring and training more employees.
She also continued to work on herย marketing efforts on social media and by the end of that year, she was able to reach $9500 in monthly revenue.
Year two began with Crystal having three cleaners on her Maid Service staff.
The monthly revenue went up from $10,000 to $18,000 from January to March of that year.
With such a rhythm going, Crystal wasnโt done improving yet.
Making the first Maid Service office staff hire
After profits started to go up, Crystal could no longer handle all of the office work on her own and was able toย hire a great person to help.
Her cleaning business went from $18000 to $45,000 a month within the year.
This hire allowed her to have the freedom she needed in her cleaning business.
Crystal now had the time and energy to create ideas that would help her Maid Service grow exponentially.
Improving the systems a Maid Service should have in place
When she started, Crystal used a personal phone and Google Calendar to schedule her cleaning clients, but this is not scalable.
โThe most important decision I made other than hiring (office staff) that second year is that I really started to perfect my system and my process.โ ย ย ย ย – Crystal Hamm
Having systems in place is critical to the growth of your Maid Service, so Crystal obtained a stronger phone system andย great scheduling software.
A Maid Service ownerโs happily ever after
Dreams are meant to be chased, so Crystal continued to build her cleaning business byย implementing automation systemsย and she hired a second office employee.
She also kept up with the marking strategies that she was using, and they were doing quite well.
She was able to expand her cleaning business to over $70,000 in revenue, just with organic Facebook marketing.
Crystalโs company started to earn awards and gain recognition, and they are now at $100,000 in monthly revenue.
However, this isnโt a fairy tale and the story doesnโt end there.
Make your own Maid Service dreams come true
Crystal attributes her success to her passion, purpose, marketing, great systems, service, and vision.
She notes that following the direction of her mind map led her to change her life, and it can change yours too.
So, if you enjoy your home cleaning business and are willing to learn more about it, you too can earn substantial amounts of money doing what you love.
All you need to do is consider a few things:
- Passion:ย You should be completely invested and take pleasure in what you do for a living.
- Purpose:ย Make a difference in the lives of others by doing what you love. Pay your employees what they deserve, reward them for a job well done. The employeesโ adoration of your brand will overflow to your cleaning clients.
- Marketing:ย Utilize organic Facebook Ads andย market any way you can to get your Maid Service out into the world.
- Systems and processes:ย Have automated systems and processes in place for your cleaning services and work to optimize them often.
- Service:ย Since you are in the service industry, do little things for your clients to show you care. Offer welcome packages, quality checks and be sure to respond quickly to inquiries. There are so many cleaning services out there so make yours stands out.
- Goals and vision:ย Set your goals with your vision in mind. Once you have them, work backward from each goal so that you can better find your way to the finish line.
