5 things Your Maid Service Voicemail Recording Must Have

Your business voicemail recording is a great opportunity to extend your marketing to current and potential customers. Make sure you are maximizing your marketing reach with these 5 tips to optimize your voicemail recording.

Here at ZenMaid, the only cleaning business software focused on you, the owner, we’re dialed in on the little things that you can do for your maid business that will have the most impact on how many cleanings you have per month.

More cleanings means more money and more money means you can grow faster.

I’d be willing to bet that a lot of Maid businesses really don’t think about their voicemail recording more than a handful of times over the course of the lives of their business.

Your voicemail, which gets heard every single time someone doesn’t manage to reach you on the phone, is a prime opportunity to be marketing to your customers.

You’re a pretty busy person, right? I bet you miss calls quite a lot.

Voicemail is what gets heard each time a call is missed, whether it be a customer, employee, supplier or potential new cleaning customer. This is a great opportunity for you to market your cleaning business without being obtrusive or too salesy. Just provide whoever is on the other end of the line with all the information they could need and they’ll appreciate you for it.

Your current customers will like you just a little bit more and you’ll make it easier for new leads to get details on your cleaning services if you are not available to take their call.

So, what makes a good voicemail for a cleaning business?

There are 5 things that every voicemail recording should include:

1 & 2. Company name & website

Having your company name is obvious, but, a lot of people forget to include their website in the recording as well. Your website should be a strong asset to your business. In this day and age it is the place for a potential customer to get more information about your cleaning company and to get to know your Maid Service brand. This can be the difference between them answering the phone when you give them a call returning your voicemail message.

Note: If you don’t have a website yet you can talk to the team here at ZenMaid about how to get a Maid Service website built. It’s a service that we may be offering in the near future.

3. Office/business hours

You’ll want to have your office hours in the voicemail so that cleaning customers know when they can connect with you. You don’t have to always be available during all of those times, it’s just the possibility you’ll actually pick up your phone or will be able to give them a call back during those hours. Adding in office hours makes your business sound much more professional. It’s the sign of a more established, well-run company to have business or office hours.

4. A slogan or branding

Last but not least a slogan or branding: this is really more important for new customers and people that are calling or leaving a voicemail for the first time rather than returning ones (though it helps a little with them too!). A catchy phrase makes it easier for people to remember your name and recognize you when you give them a call back.

Keep in mind how many other Maid Services people may call as they shop around. Be the Maid Service whose name this person remembers.

5. Owner’s name (optional)

Finally, you can mention your name in the recording. This is a good idea if your calls are still coming into a cell phone. If you’re on a first name basis with all your customers, it adds that extra personal touch to include your name in the voicemail. If you’re not on a first name basis, but you’d like to be, then use your name to encourage customers to use it!

Examples:

– “Bob’s Cleaners, serving the Philadelphia area since 1977″

– “American Maids “Cleaning Your Home is our Pleasure”

– [your company slogan here] Just be sure to keep it consistent to your current branding.

An example of a great Maid Service voicemail:

“You’ve reached Mandy with More Homes Cleaned – Cleveland’s best maid service. We’re available between 7 am and 6 pm but can’t come to the phone right now. We’re looking forward to leaving you a sparkling home so leave a voicemail with your name, number, and a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. You can also check out more information on our service at www.MoreHomesCleaned.com*”

* If you can offer an incentive to visit your site, like an instant booking or quote form for example, it can go a long way to land you new business. If you have a great voicemail AND they visit your site it’s a guarantee they’ll remember your name even if they don’t book immediately.

Setting up your voicemail with these tips, shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes out of your day. Just put together a quick script that includes more information included in the list above then you currently have. Don’t worry about it being perfect; having the information available for customers is better than not!

It will go a long way to your brand awareness and ultimately… your bottom line.
